Kids Beginner Bike Park Camps

It’s never too early to get into mountain biking. Here at Mountain Creek Bike Park, we nurture the next generation of shredders as young as six years old in our dedicated half day and full day camps. We provide an excellent learning environment for kids while parents can enjoy the mountain.

Beginner Downhill Camps

Beginner Kids Downhill Camp – Half Day Program

Our half-day beginner mountain bike camp for kids ages 6-9 is a great way to get them acquainted with the fundamental mountain bike skills that will help give them more confidence and more fun on their bikes. We’ll include the use of games to help the kids learn the skills while having fun. These skills include:

  • Basic Body Position and Balance – How to stand on the bike, how to put your feet on the pedals, how to move on your bike to create a stable, balanced position
  • Braking – How and when to use your brakes
  • Gears – How to use your gears (cadence, shifting and pedaling technique)
  • Vision – How to ride better by looking ahead
  • Pumping the bike
  • Basic cornering techniques

Camp Details

Camp Hours: 9AM – 12PM
Dates: Available every weekend, Saturday & Sunday

Includes lift access, does not include bike rental.

 

Helpful Information:
Please note: All campers must be able to stand on their pedals while coasting on their bikes. Beginner riders must be comfortable riding a mountain bike off paved surfaces and be able to use hand brakes with confidence.

Our full-day beginner mountain bike camp for kids ages 10-16 is a great way to get them acquainted with the fundamental mountain bike skills that will help give them more confidence and more fun on their bikes. We’ll include the use of games to help the kids learn the skills while having fun. These skills include:

FAQ

What should I wear?
Long pants and long sleeve tops are recommended. Shoulders should be covered. Full-face helmets are required for all participants. Knee and elbow protective equipment recommended. Full-finger gloves and goggles are highly recommended.

Can I use my own bike?
A full suspension mountain bike with a minimum of 5” (125mm) of front and rear travel is required. Front and rear disc brakes are required – no coaster or rim brakes allowed.

Rental Bikes are available at a discount for campers subject to availability. Advanced reservations are required to ensure the right size bike is available for you.

Complimentary protective equipment is included with all bike rentals.

Kids Intermediate Bike Park Camps

Intermediate Kids Camp – Ages 10-16

Our full day Intermediate Kid’s Downhill Camps help you take your skills to the next level with a focus on getting over rocks, drops, and jumps. These skills will help increase your confidence and level of fun as you take on more challenging terrain and features in the bike park. These skills include:

  • Fundamental Skills Review
  • Advanced cornering techniques
  • Line choice – how to scope out the best line for you to ride
  • Getting over obstacles – different types of wheel lifts
  • Introduction to roll downs and drops – how to roll down safely
  • Introduction to tabletop jumps
