Sussex County Birding & Nature Festival

Mountain Creek will host a weekend of birding, butterflies, dragonflies and natural history at The Appalachian hotel on June 2-3, 2007. 

 

Sponsored by the NJ Audubon Society and The County of Sussex this weekend will feature 17 different field trips and nature walks at locations throughout the area including Stokes, Swartswood and High Point State Parks, the Wallkill River National Wildlife Recreation area, Hamburg Mountain, and several locations in Vernon, among others. 

 

Additionally, there will be a four-part lecture series on topics such as the Paulinskill Valley Trail, Disappearing Species, Reptiles and Amphibians of NJ, and Colonial Waterbirds, as well as vendors and displays open to the public in The Appalachian.  Saturday evening at 6:00pm there will be a social hour with keynote presentation on “Butterflies of Mexico” by Jeffrey Glassberg, President of the North American Butterfly Association.
