Beginner Women’s Progression Camp

Women's Camp

Enjoy a day of riding and community by attending our Women’s Progression Camp.  This is a great opportunity to gain confidence on your bike while working with like-minded women on your fundamental skills before moving on to more advanced skills as the day progresses. All women’s camps are led by World Masters Champion, Kathi Krause of Dirt Rock n Root Training

 

Our Beginner Women’s Progression Camp is a great way to get acquainted with the fundamental mountain bike skills that will help give you more confidence and more fun when riding your bike. These skills include:

  • Basic Body Position and Balance – How to stand on the bike, how to put your feet on the pedals, how to move on your bike to create a stable, balanced position
  • Braking - How and when to use your brakes 
  • Gears - How to use your gears (cadence, shifting and pedaling technique)
  • Vision - How to ride better by looking ahead
  • Pumping the bike
  • Basic cornering techniques

Helpful Information:

Please note: beginner riders must be comfortable riding a mountain bike off of paved surfaces and be able to use hand brakes with confidence. They also need to be able to stand on their pedals while coasting.

Bikes need to have front and rear handbrakes – no coaster brakes allowed. Advanced Reservations are Required. Helmets required for all participants. Knee & elbow protective equipment recommended. Rental Bikes are available at a discount for campers. Complimentary protective equipment included with all bike rentals.

Intermediate Women’s Progression Camp

Our Intermediate Women’s Progression Camp builds on the fundamental mountain bike skills that you have or have acquired through the Beginner Camp.  These skills will help give you more confidence and more fun as you take your bike riding to more challenging terrain and features. These skills include:

  • Review of fundamentals
  • Getting over obstacles
    • Front wheel lifts
    • Rear wheel lifts
    • Manuals and Bunny Hops
  • Introduction to roll downs and drops
  • Introduction to jumping
